The Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party,(PDP) in Ebonyi State, Chika Nwoba has said the party was not aware of court injunction stopping the party from conducting fresh congress in the State.
Nwoba disclosed this while interacting with Journalists during the congress of 3- man delegates at the Party Secretariat Abakaliki, the State Capital.
It was reported that a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had restrained the party from holding fresh delegate congress but Nwoba said the party was not aware of any court injunction restraining it from the fresh delegate congress.
He debunked the allegation that another group was conducting different congress somewhere, saying he only knows the people who had come to the Secretrait and thereafter left for their official assignments.
According to him” Any body conducting a different 3- man delegates election may have been representing different political party not PDP, but officially we received the people National working committee of the party sent to Ebonyi and they are at the different Local Government Areas conducting the exercise”
Nwoba further told Journalists that the exercise was ongoing at the various Local Government Headquarters, adding that in few time the exercise may have been concluded and the outcome be returned to the Party National Secretariat.
He hinted that PDP is a united party in Ebonyi State, noting as long as it is politics they may always have agreement and disagreement but at the end of everything come up with one goal.
“We have thirteen governorship aspirants in PDP, it is not out of place to have some of them having issues among themselves, you are here and I am here we have not recorded any issue, there is presence of security men. PDP is a united house in Ebonyi but as long as as it is politics we will always have agreement and disagreement and at the end of everything we will come together and produce only one governorship candidate and that will happen on the 23rd of this Month”
Meanwhile, a frontline Governorship aspirant in the PDP and the Senator representing Ebonyi Central zone, Senator Obinna Joseph Ogba expressed optimism that the election would record huge success, noting
the exercise would be free, fair and credible.
On court order, Ogba said the party has not been communicated.
” As for me I am loyal party member and very law abiding, if there is any court order we have to respect the court order and if there is none the election goes on”
” For me and my supporters we don’t have any problem, if there is court order to stop it fine and good, if there is none fine and good anyhow it goes we are prepared for the election” he concluded
