As the entire universe celebrates world Peace day, Ebonyi state Security Consultant and All Progressives Congress, APC, Caretaker Chairman, and aspirant, Hon Stanley Okoro Emegha has said that peace is a secret to life’s longevity.
He made the assertion during the familiarization visit of members of National Association of Independent Media Practitioners in Abakaliki.
Emegha who resigned as a Commissioner for Internal Security, Peace Border and Conflict Resolution before his appointment as the state Security Consultant described crisis as an ill wind that blows no one any good.
The state Security Consultant hinted that peace is paramount to overall development, therefore, charged the people of Ebonyi state and Nigeria at large to support the peace efforts of president Muhammadu Buhari and Governor David Nweze Umahi.
He stated that it was obvious that the country is currently facing security challenges but maintained optimistic that the issue can be summounted with the coming together of the people to face the common enemies.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, Ebonyi state Caretaker chairman and aspirant commended the state Governor for his resilience in achieving peace in all the once war torn communities in the state and pray God to reward him in ten folds.
He, equally, appreciated the people of the state for their continous support for Governor David Nweze Umahi’s peace initiatives, thereby, bringing peace in all the corners of the state.
He, however, urged members of the group to maintain objectivity in their reportage and added that media owes alot in shaping the society through developmental journalism.
“Peace is a greatest gift any society should be clamouring for, knowing that crisis is an ill wind that blows no one any good.
“It is cheaper to live in peace with whoever you have identified as your enemy than to be in crisis, because in a relationship;one person must be the one sacrificing to sustain it.
“I discovered that once you are in enemity with anybody, your system will change no matter the gravity of acohol you have taken which ordinary suppose to weaken your vein, I the acoholic content instead will disappear. So, peace is another secret of life longevity.
“When you are at peace with everybody, you see yourself been happy at all times but the very moment you start brewing hatred;if for instance, Okechukwu is the one you are keeping malice with, the moment you hear that name even in your dream will start feeling uncomfortable and fearful and that’s very bad.
“Like I have always said, you have the pen but it takes serious will to stand on the truth; yes, I am serving as a Commissioner under this administration but still young to compromise on my conscience, it still beat my imagination that even while the administration of His Excellency Engr David umahi is at this stage continue to award new projects and completing as at when promised.
“This stage to other Governors is when to be packing government property but he is busy working as if he’s newly elected and that’s Governance.
“I have served other past government and sure what I am saying not praising His Excellency. You go around you see many projects which if not his kind of person will be facing serious health challenge but his case is different.
“So, charging Ebonyians to continue giving him your support because it is only on atmosphere of peace that development thrives and to you media Practictioners to be objective in your reportage seeing what our Governor is doing to rewrite the narrative of our people.
