— Family Appeal for the release of detained brother, decease for burial

Tragedy has strucked the people of Olai-lum village in Igbeagu Community, Izzi council Area of Ebonyi state when one late Okemini Isha gunned down his son on Sunday night of 27th December,2020.
It was gathered that the late Okemini Isha who is married with two wives had threatened to deal with the wive’s children whom he was in logerhead with over time.
Also gathered was that on the same night, one of her daughter married to a nearby village returned to the family with complain of rift with her husband,an issue that resulted to heat argument with his first son, now late.
At the point,it was learnt that the deceased Okemini went inside his room and brought out his locally made gun and fired at his son late Titus Isha who was already dozed off on a bench they were sitting, resulting his dead at the point.
Consequent upon his action, the younger brother to the deceased in effort to cease the gun from the father, the late Okemini was said to had still being threatening to kill the second son who in defending himself with log of wood hited the father and he died at the spot.
However,when our reporter visited the family, the bereaved son, Mr Isha Sunday described the incident as a big loss to the entire village.
The bereaved Sunday confided on us that he got a distress call requesting his presence at home and since his arrival have not seen any of the corpses.
He narrated that the family witnessed the high level of shock in their lives and appealed to the security agencies and the state government to release their deceased father and brother,as keeping them would amount to eruption of emotion.
He bereaved son who now assumed the position of the first son hinted that releasing their detained brother and the corpses would help them to easily address their pain and forge ahead for the progress of the family.
“I am the second son of late Okemini Isha,and the brother of late Titus, I received the message that our father killed my brother with gun but cannot really narrate how everything happened since I was not at home when the incident occurred nor any of my father’s wife in the compound.
“I was in Anambra state when the whole thing happened and I was briefed that none of my father’s wife was around when the tragedy strucked.
“All I am asking security agencies and Ebonyi state government is to help us by releasing my father and brother’s dead body so that we bury them because the more they keep their bodies, the deeper we will keep mourning them under pain.
” The family do not want police case since we have find out that it was devil that was at work and nothing you will do to dead body again, Other than to bury them. So, should release our detained brother and release their dead body.
Corroborating the statement, one of the elderly man in the family,Chief Nwode Isha appealed to the security agencies to release deceased man and his son to enable them calm their nerve and rebuild their already battered emotion.
Meanwhile, the village Head, Olai-lum,Chief Chukwuma Nwibo, frowned upon the incident which according to him never received any report of misunderstanding between the family, noting that upon invitation to the scene; the deceased bodies had been deposited to the morgue and the suspected arrested by Iboko Police division.
The village Head enjoined security agencies to hearken to the family plea and called the villagers to remain law abiding, even as he prayed against the ugly experience in the area.
