It was a celebration galore today as the apex socio-cultural youth body under the aegis of Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum led by the national president, Comarde Ben Nwovu stormed the home of Izhi Traditional Prime Minisiter, His Royal Majesty, Ishi Uke Mbam Ngele at Anmegu to celebrate Ojiji Izhi festival.
Speaking to newsmen shortly after prayers of bountiful harvest, prosperity and longevity were offered to Enya Ali Izhi by Ishi Uke Mbam Ngele, the national President, Comrade Nwovu who bore gifts of kolanuts and other traditional items for the prime minister as a mark of respect, stated that they were at the Anmegu ancestral home to join Ishi Uke Izhi in celebration of new yam-Ojiji Izhi 2023.
He described Ojiji as the biggest annual celebration in Izhi clan and thanks God for giving them life to celebrate.
The national president explained that Ojiji Izhi being a period of celebrating new yam, that the youth body is also using the opportunity to show readiness for welcoming the new yam as a people.
He revealed that the potency of any prayer made at Anmegu proved the ancestral home sacredness and cited the picking of kolanut particles used for the prayers by fowl as an indication of acceptance.
He enjoined the youths to support the government of Rt Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru in the spirit of equity so as to attract dividend of democracy to the people.
Comrade Nwovu further prayed the government to employ more youths, and establish companies where majority of Ebonyi youth would be accommodated while engage some in skill acquisitions, as well as, other empowerments.
However, while welcoming the youths and other people who were in his place to celebrate with him on the occasion of Ojiji Izhi Festival, the traditional Prime Minister, Ishi Uke Mbam Ngele thanked everyone for deeming it appropriate to come celebrate Ojiji with him, declaring that by virtue of his position that he was removing all obstacles that previously held Ebonyi and Izhi people in particular from progressing.
Elder Ngele who was vissibly happy further charged the people to be United in their pursuit for all round development of the State and continue to support the government of Builder Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru so that government would provide employment opportunities, train the children of Ebonyi and ensure rapid transformation of the state.
