Mgbozu Ugwulangwu community elects new traditional ruler

The People of Mgbom Ugwulangwu autonomous community in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State has successfully elected and coronated Eze Frank Agueze as their traditional ruler after twelve years.

The election which took place at Mgbom Central School Mgbom Ugwulangwu had the election of the traditional ruler amidst glamour and jubilation.

Member representing Ohaozara East Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon Igu Nwankwo who was elated over the peaceful conduct of the election and the harmonious disposition of the Mgbom Ugwulangwu people during the election and coronation process charged them to rally round the new traditional ruler for optimal development of the community.

Hon Igu said the institutionalization of Ezes in the state by the State Governor, Francis Nwifuru is a practical determination of his readiness to attain the yearnings and needs of the people in line with his People’s Charter of Needs mantra.

Speaking after the election, the State Commissioner for Rural Development Hon Chief Collins Ikeuwa Omebe said the voters were accredited and election peacefully conducted which was keenly contested with the Eze-elect, Chief Frank Agueze emerging the winner with total vote of Nine hundred and forty two votes to defeat Chief Francis Okorie who scored Eight hundred and thirty nine votes.

He said people from 14 Units that made up of Mgbom Ugwulangwu Autonomous Community voted in the process.

On their part, the Commissioner for Internal Security Prince Ita Ude ,the Special Assistant to the goverrnor on Chieftaincy Matters, Hon Chukwuma Ujebe and Chairman of Ohaozara Local Government, Hon Aja Chinonso thanked the people for following the guiding principle in choosing their traditional ruler.

Also, the immediate past Special Assistant to goverrnor on Solid Mineral and former president Mgbom Ugwulangwu town union, Hon Ozoemena Njoku described the election as people oriented and thanked the people for being waiting for a day like that and with the successful conduct of the election and coronation, other entitlement awaits new Eze upon presentation to the Goverrnor of the State.

Responding, the newly elected and coronated traditional ruler, Eze Frank Agueze ( Nnamoke 11 of Mgbom Ugwulangwu Autonomous Community) appreciated the people of the community for founding him worthy and for peaceful manner the election was conducted promising to ensure more peaceful co-existence in the community and to support government policies and programmes while soliciting for prayers and advise from the subjects.
