The Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly and the National Vice Chairman South East, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Rt. Hon.Ogbonna Nwifuru, has described the demise of the Honourable Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly,Hon. Funminiyi Afuye, as a rude shock.
Nwifuru in his soothing words to the people of the State, noted that the demise of his counterpart, came at a time when he’s mostly needed to harness his Legislative experience, to move the State forward.
This was as contained in the statement issued by the press secretary to the speaker, Leo Oketa.
He described Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye as a perfect gentleman, hence, urged the Ekiti people to take solace in the truth, that the late Speaker served and impacted humanity, positively.
He prayed God Almighty to grant the Funminiyi family, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Government and the entire good people of Ekiti State, the strength to pull through, at this difficult time.
It was reported that Rt Hon. Funminiyi Afuye, 66, died yesterday, Wednesday, October 19, 2022, following a cardiac arrest.
Also gathered was that he was elected Honourable Speaker of the sixth Ekiti State House of Assembly on June 6, 2019.
“May his soul rest in peace, Amen.” He prayed
