The apex socio-cultural Izzi youth organization Board of Trustees, (BoT) in Ebonyi state, Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum, led by Prince Maurice Nnanna Mbam has rejected the All Progressives Congress, (APC) governorship candidate, Hon Francis Nwifuru.

Accordingly, the members of Board of Trustees, have adopted the Ebonyi State Labour Party, LP, candidate, Arch Edward Nkwegu,(EDON) as their consensus candidate in the 2023 general election.

This was made known by the BoT Chairman, Prince Maurice Mbam on Thursday during enlarged press briefing in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.

Prince Mbam explained that the decision to back the Labour Party candidate was rooted in the decision of the members to ensure that a people-centric government succeed Umahi.

According to him: “Following the meeting of the Board of Trustees of Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum, have resolved that we eschew every form of political hooliganism, violence, threat to life, and condemned every form of vote buying and called on the state government to give every political parties level playing ground to exercise their franchise.

“That our Ohaukwu brothers should remember that we supported Dr Sam Egwu as a Governor and Senate. Hence, call our brothers from the central zone to reciprocate our support for Chief Martin Nwanchor Elechi, and remind our brothers from the South to know that Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum was the first to declare the shift of power to Ebonyi South during our retreat at TTC Igbeagu which later saw the emergence of Engr David Umahi.

He added, “We assure all and sundry that we’ll convince Izhi extraction on the consensus candidate of Arch Edward Nkwegu, before the voting day.

“Therefore, we hereby, adopted Arch (Dr) Edward Nkwegu as our consensus candidate in the 2023 Ebonyi state general election.”

The ex-president enjoined entire Ebonyians to support the Labour Party candidate on the ground of equity, competence and credibility, hence, called on sons and daughters of the clan to queue behind the former governorship candidate in the 2015 election to ensure he emerged victoriously in the 2023 election.
