The chairman of Peoples Democratic Party in Ebonyi State Hon. Tochukwu Okorie, Tuesday, faulted action of the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly Rt. Hon Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru and some Members of the House who allegedly connived together and forged a resignation letter against the House Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Odefa Obasi Odefa declaring his seat vacant for reaffirming his Membership in PDP and appoint new Deputy Speaker overnight in the State.

Addressing newsmen in Abakaliki on the development, the PDP boss said the forcefully removal of the Deputy Speaker has failed woefully, saying that Odefa remains undisputed substantive Deputy Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly till the end of this adminstration, he said that forgery, lies, impunity and falsehood can never be allowed to take over Ebonyi State parliament irrespective of powers behind such evil move.

He described the declaration of the Deputy Speaker’s seat vacant by the fifteen Members of the House including the Speaker, Nwifuru, as not just an affront to constitutionalism but an insult to the people of Ebonyi State and Nigeria in general.

He wondered how such petty crimes, forgery, perjury and brazen lies be carried out by the acclaimed fifteen Honorable Members of the House in an effort to victimize the Deputy Speaker and attributed it to the total discretion and truncation of democracy and rule of law in the name of backing the State Governor Engr. David Nweze Umahi in the State.

The PDP boss also alleged the fifteen Members of the House of forging another letter and read in the House that Hon. Ngozi Eziulo and Hon. Oliver Osi had resigned their Membership in PDP and joined APC, describing the move as a brazen forgery and defamation, noting that the lawmakers have resolved to seek appropriate redress in the court of law.

He further hinted that the party would leave no stone unturned in restoring normalcy, law, justice and order in Ebonyi State House of Assembly and expressed the avowed determination of the party in the State to deal decisively to those who conspired and commit such heinous crimes aimed at bringing the State institution of democracy to disrepute.
