Ebonyi Govt. Maps Out #18 Million For Victims Of Building Collapse

Ebonyi State Government under the leadership of Engr. David Umahi has mapped out the total sum of #18million to the victims of building collapse at Ekaja market in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of the State.

The State Commissioner for information and orientation Mr Orji Uchenna Orji announced this while briefing newsmen in the outcome of the weekly executive council meeting in Abakaliki.

According to the Commissioner “EXCO noted the conditions of the affected persons and approved the total sum of Eighteen Million Naira (N18,000,000.00) for all the victims and other affected persons in the building collapse incident”

Orji said, “the executive council received a report on the Medium Term Expenditure Frame Work of 2023 – 2025. The report which is in line with the mandate of the State Ministry of Financial and Economic Development, and the dictates of Ebonyi State Fiscal Responsibility Commission Law, contains in the Economic and fiscal update of the State within the period under review”

“Under the report, there is a total forecast budget size of One Hundred and Twenty Six Billion, Three Hundred and Eleven Million, Six Hundred And Two Thousand Six Hundred and Four Naira (N126,311,602,604). The sum of Fifty Billion Four Hundred and Forty Two Million, Three Hundred and Fifty Four Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty One Naira (N50,442,354,741) will be for Recurrent Expenditure while Sixty Eight Billion Six Hundred and Fifty One Million, One Hundred and Thirty Five Thousand And Fifty Seven Naira (N 68,651,135,057) will be for Capital Expenditure”

“The sum of Seven Billion Two hundred and Eighteen Million One hundred and Twelve Thousand Eight Hundred and Seven Naira (N 7,218,112,807) is for Planning Reserve”

The EXCO, however approved the termination of the lease contract given to Larma Fast Food and Restaurant and directed the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to take over the Park to avoid further loss of revenue and further approved the sum of Four Million Three hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira for the renovation and repairs of the Children facilities at the park.

He noted that EXCO approved the implementation of a leadership programme for the Future Leaders of Ebonyi State.

“Over 300 youths of Ebonyi State shall be given intensive leadership training for one month and the areas of coverage shall be leadership, ethics, self reliance, entrepreneurship etc. This programme is going to be a legacy programme for the future leaders of Ebonyi State”

“The first category will be those with O level, 2nd Category is for 1st degree holders and 3rd Category is for those with 2nd degree and above. In order to select these 300 members, advertisement will be done for us to have 20 per Local Government Area on the ratio of 3:2:1 on the categories”

He added, the second category of the training as approved by EXCO is leadership training for the newly elected Local Government Council Chairmen and councilors.

He stated the EXCO also inaugurated the Governing board members of Ebonyi State University and David Umahi Federal University, Uburu which had the special assistant to the Governor on religious and welfare matters Rev. Father Abraham Nwali as a chairman among other members.
