Ebonyi Govt Donates 32.4 Hectares To Investors For Palm Plantation

The Ebonyi State Governor,Engr David Umahi has donated a total of 32.4 hectares of land to investors known as Rico Group of companies for palm plantation at Ivo Local Government Area of the State.

The state Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barr Orji Uchenna Orji announced this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the weekly executive council meeting held at the new Exco Chambers Abakaliki, the state capital.

Orji said the Exco considered that the palm plantation would create a job opportunities for the teaming populace, saying that it is going to be running in a public private partnership bases.

The Commissioner further said that Exco approved the recruitment of trainees with Bachelor of Sciences and its equivalent for Ebonyi state airport operations and appreciated the level of efforts in the recruitment of over 5,000 Ebonyians into civil service, and added that commissions in which the exercise is going on are allowed to take decision as an autonomous bodies.

He said that a committee has been set up to work in synergy with them to fast track the processes while calling on Ebonyi people to avail themselves the great opportunities in their own interest.

He also noted that Exco approved the redeployment of the Commissioner for Project monitoring and evaluation Hon. Oluchukwu Uke Ezeali into the ministry of Infrastructural Development for Concession to enable the state governor to carry on his developmental intiatives.

On his part, Dr. Sunday Nwangele, the State Commissioner for Education said that Exco approved the establishment of the University of Aeronautic Engineering at Onueke,Ezza South LGA besides the ongoing cargo airport and University of ICT Sciences and Technology in Oferekpe, Izzi LGA respectively to expand the educational and socio economic development of the state.

According to the Commissioner, “the approval has been given the necessarily attention with committee set up to follow up the processes to get laws and approve by Ebonyi State House of Assembly, as well as, approach the Nigeria University Commission so as to kick start the project.
