Ebonyi Female Lawmaker Makes Case For Vulnerable Children

–Commend First Lady For Women Inclusiveness In Governance

The Chairman of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly Committee on Women Affairs and social Development, Hon. Mrs. Chinyere Nwogbaga has paid glowing tribute to the wife of the State Governor, Her Excellency Chief Mrs. Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru for the viable increment of women participation in the present administration.

Speaking to the commissioner for women Affairs and Social Development during her committee’s familiarization visit to the Ministry, Hon.Mrs Chinyere Nwogbaga said the number and leverage of women inclusiveness in government by His Excellency Rt. Hon. Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru is commendable and then implored the Ministry to fashion out ways and programmes that will be more beneficial to the vulnerable women and children.

She noted the visit was aimed at knowing the areas in which collaboration could occur between the House Committee and the Ministry adding that the House Committee will always be on ground to work with the Ministry.

Adding her voice, another member of the committee representing Ohaukwu North, Hon. Esther Agwu said that the visit will concretize the synergy between the committee and the Ministry and the Ebonyi State House of Assembly.

Other members of the Committee including Hon. Godwin Abiri representing Izzi West, Hon. Igu Chikezie representing Ohaozara East and Hon. Oluchukwu Ukie Ezeali representing Afikpo North-East maintained that positive and progressive changes has occurred within the short term of the present administration adding that the Ministry has been up and doing it its activities.

Responding, the commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Chief Mrs. Felicia Nwankpuma said that Her Excellency Chief Mrs. Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru has made the Ministry to be a beehive activities adding that Ministry will not relent in its efforts on gender issues and maintained that girl child education and second chance initiative are part of the prgrammes that the Ministry has prioritized not leaving out family issues concerning men.

In another development, Hon. Chinyere Nwogbaga visited the Ministry of Water Resources where he commended the State Governor, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for restoring pipe borne water supply to some parts of the State.

As the chairman of the House Committee on Water Resources, Hon. Nwogbaga challenged the Ministry to see water as life and therefore report every areas of need for water to go round the State to her committee.

Others who spoke include Hon. Esther Agwu representing Ohaukwu-North, Hon. Godwin Abiri representing Izzi-West and Hon. Chikezie Igu representing Ohaozara-East all commended the State Governor for revitalizing the Ministry of Water Resources and called on the Ministry to toe the path created by the Government.

Responding, the Commissioner for Water Resources,
Hon. Chinedum Nkah disclosed to the committee that as part of the rehabilitation process, Ezillo Water Scheme has been reactivated and that all other water schemes in the state has been visited and level of damages ascertained.

He called on surveillance in the water supply installations, condemned open-defecation in the state and implored the committee and other members of the State House of Assembly to enlighten their constituents on how to guard against vandalization of water installations.

Other Members of the Committee during the Visit include Hon Barr Chikaodili Nome, Hon Kelvin Kenechukwu Okeh, Hon Ifeanyi NWAKPU, Hon Celestine Ogba, Hon Goodluck Obinna Mbam, Hon Henry Eze
