The chieftain of All Progressive Congress and a governorship aspirant in the 2023 Governorship election in Ebonyi State,Architect Edward Nkwegu has said that he will create small and medium enterprises if he emerged as the Governor of the State come 2023.
Architect Nkwegu stated this while speaking with Journalists in Abakaliki, the State Capital.
He said small and medium sized enterprises is an engine room of every economy and the greater employer of labour in the society, noting that sustainable and all inclusive wealth and job opportunities is what the State needed now.
He noted that his administration would prioritize in education, thereby, bringing quality and relevance through curricular reform In the sector as it remains the bedrock of every society.
He hinted that the State has been lucky in leadership as the two past Governors and current administration under, Chief David Umahi have succeed in their different areas of callings.
According to him, “Governor Sam Egwu between 1999–2007 came with ideas of compulsory and free education, followed with a lot of other schemes and many of the beneficiaries have succeed in the different areas of calling. In my own accessment he did very well”
” Governor Martin Elechi came to power and we have a lot of human and infrastructural development”
“Once again, our present Governor Engr. David Umahi came and he has built a lot of flyovers, construction of roads and presently working on the airport among others, that is why I said we have lucky in the State”
“I will focus on economic revolution, I will bring industrialization, I will create small and medium enterprises so that I can employ our people. I will create jobs and wealth for for our teaming youths and Ebonyians at large to meet up with the global standard” he said
However, Nkwegu admonished Ebonyi people and Nigerians in general to massively participate in the ongoing voter card registration and revalidation exercise as it is the yardstick to vote credible candidates in the upcoming general elections in the Country.
He further commended the State Governor Engr. David Umahi and the chairman of APC in the State Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha for their efforts in piloting the affairs of the party in the State and called on the youths to abstain totally from the consumption of illicit drugs and eschew from violence for peace and overall development of the Country.
