The Former Senator representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial District in Ebonyi state, Sen. Julius Ali Ucha, Wednesday, declared his interest to run for the governorship position of the state under the platform of All Progressives Congress APC come 2023
The Senator disclosed his intention to join the Gubernatorial race when he led his supporters on a courtesy visit to the State Working Committee of the All Progressive Congress APC at the party office in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
Ucha, who was the pioneer Speaker of Ebonyi state House of Assembly and two term Senator representing Ebonyi central zone, pledged to sustain and maintain the standard of infrastructural development put in place by Governor David Umahi’s led administration as well as embark on massive human resources and empowerment with emphasis on education, agriculture, health among others.
“I have told myself that I have a duty if by the Special Grace of God and I am elected as the Governor of Ebonyi State; I will maintain the standard of the infrastructural development already put in place by the present administration, sustain the gain and legacies which Governor Umahi already put in place and to secure the future of the people of Ebonyi state”
“I will consolidate the human resource development and empowerment through education, agriculture, through sustenance of the state of the art health facility and through industrialization”
Senator Ucha who’s the first governorship aspirant to declare interest in the party further urged the APC leadership in the state to open the space at the local areas so that aspirants can start to reach out to people and make the party vibrant in all the nooks and crannies of the State.
However, Ucha revealed that he embarked on the visit to inform the party leadership of his intention to run for the governorship of Ebonyi state, come 2023.
“I know that over a month that the political space was thrown open by our leader and we are also aware that the zoning arrangement is that the governorship position will either go to Ebonyi Central or North”
“We also aware that the zoning committee has been graciously put in place to the micro zoning of where the governorship will go to, I am a man that complies with the rules. he added
The chairman of the All Progressive Congress APC in the State, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha commended the governorship aspirant for taking such bold step, adding that the party would give every contestant a level playground to operate in the State.
He noted that the leader of the party had said that everybody have right to go and contest, as they are choked up with time.
Chief Emegha further admonished the party faithfuls to come together and speak in one voice to enable them sweep out the opposition parties in the State, stressing that they should all do what would give credit to the party at all times and wished the gubernatorial candidate well in his political endeavors.
