The executive chairman, Izzi LGA, Barr Steve Nwankpa Thursday accused a thug hired by the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, governorship candidate of shooting at innocent citizen of the state during their campaign visit at the council headquarters.
Nwankpa made this known to our Correspondent on phone while responding on the alleged attack on Prof Ifeanyichukwu Odoh, Ebonyi APGA gubernatorial candidate’s convoy.
Recall that the APGA Guber candidate, Prof Odo has raised alarm of attack on his convoy during his consultation visit at Izzi Council headquarters.
According to him, the attack was coming after a distress call warning him not to visit the council but defiled the threat, hence, attacked on his way by suspected men of Ebubeagu.
Odoh who hinted that similar attack was waged on him during the inauguration of his support groups at Ezza South accused the state governor, David Umahi and the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate, Hon Ogbonna Nwifuru of playing a war game and threatened to fight back.
Reacting on the development, the Council chairman of Izzi Local Government Area, Barr Nwankpa described the allegation as unfounded and plan to ignite communal rift among sister clan.
Nwankpa, however, challenged the APGA candidate to show prove of victims who were inside the vehicle during the Ebubeagu security operatives attack.
He further advised him to shun politics of calumny and blackmail as such would do no good to citizens of the state.
“My attention was drawn to the video trending on social media where the Gubernatorial candidate of APGA, Prof. Ifeanyichukwu Odoh has been allegedly accused Men of Ebubeagu Security Outfit of attacking his Convoy at Izzi Local Government .
“We have watched the video and found out that, he ( ODOH) is making every efforts to run away and cover up the crime he committed today at council headquarters by ordering his men to shoot and attack the innocent citizen of the area.
Continuing, “To set the records straight, the gubernatorial candidate, Prof. Odoh was in the Council headquarters as a citizen who has the right to visit any part of the state, but his convoy after the day business going back to town sighted a branded APC vehicle, and one of the thugs opened gun fire on the sienna who’s conveying the Coordinator of Izzi Development Center, Hon. Obyia Pascal who was on his way from the council headquarters but stopped to know why people gathered along the Iboko road
He added, “An action that triggered serious tension on the area as passerby scampered for safety, hence, the Coordinator was rushed to the nearby hospital as some pellets from the bullet still in his body while the convoy drove away.
“
We,therefore, ask the general public to discountenance the video and treat the scanty information it portrays as falsehood.
He called on the people to go about their businesses as the law would take it course in addressing the peddling fake information”Most importantly, as law abiding citizens of federal Republic of Nigeria, we urge the good people of Izzi Local Government Area to go about their normal business and allow Law to carry out it course with regards to this effect.”
