APC Congress: Umahi Harps on Consensus Candidates

Ebonyi State Governor Engr. David Umahi has enjoined stakeholders of All Progressive Congress, APC,to work together towards the progress and stability of the party to achieve success in the forthcoming congress of the party in the State.

Umahi gave the charge during the State APC stakeholders meeting held at the Christian Ecumenical center, Abakaliki, the State capital.

Governor Umahi who expressed satisfaction over the large turnout of members, said that such was a clear evidence that the party is on ground in the State and appreciated the party executives for leading the party in a well distinguished manner.

According to the Governor: “If we stay together without factionalizing the party
and without a lot of petitions, we will achieve much from the party especially in the National level.

He further stated that the congress would be done in a consensus way to ensure peoples choice of candidates emerged, while calling on the Local Government council chairmen and Zonal party executives among others to rise to their responsibilities to ensure the success of the congress.

Umahi who emphasized on the need for peace among party line, described peace as engine for progress and development, and added that he is doing the needful to unite both old and new APC members in the State to ensure that there’s peace in the forthcoming congress as one family.

He said that adequate modalities have been put in place to employ and empower over five thousand Ebonyi youths as to improve the socio-economic status of the State.

Earlier in his remarks, the State Chairman of All Progressive Congress, APC, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha hinted that the meeting was conveyed to brainstorm on the best way to move the party forward in the State, as the state congress of the party is already at the corner.

Chief Emegha frowned on the manner some party faithfuls petition the party instead of exploring party mechanisms of resolving their internal grievances among themselves.

The party leader, however,called on such people to avoid taking laws into their hands and warned that, henceforth, anybody found engaging in such act would be sanctioned.

In an interview, one of the party Chieftain and chairman of Edon group of companies, Architect Edward Nkwegu described the meeting as a good development and commended the State Governor David Umahi for his leadership prowess which he said has made the party stronger in the State, while expressing optimism that the congress would be peaceful in the state.

The meeting drew the presence of the former Governor of the State, Chief Martin Nwanchor Elechi among other distinguished party faithfuls.
