The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ebonyi State has condemned the unwarranted killings of supporters in some parts of the State by gunmen suspectedly sponsored by opposition political parties.

Directorate of Information of the party who doubles as the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barr. Uchenna Orji, made the condemnation while addressing newsmen at the APC Divine Mandate Campaign Council Office, in Abakaliki.

According to Orji, the Divine Mandate Campaign Council condemned the alleged killing of some APC supporters by unknown gunmen sponsored by opposition parties.

Orji described as the most gruesome, the murder of the Councillor of Achara Ward in Ohaozara Local Government Area, Mr. Ogbonnaya Ugwu and that of Eze Christopher Igboke Ewa of Ezza North Local Government Area.

The Information Commissioner further condemned another attack on the Commander of Neighborhood Watch in the same Ohaozara Local Government by unknown gunmen, and called on Security Agencies to rise to their duties and work on the available information to bring the perpetrators of the needless attacks to book.

He also raised alarm on the plans by opposition elements to cause violence using external mercenaries during the forthcoming Governorship and State Assembly elections and called on Security Agencies to be alive to their responsibilities.

He equally tasked them to rise to their duties by ensuring peaceful and violence free elections in the State come March 18 Governorship and State Assembly elections.

Also, the Campaign Council Information Director applauded some notable Stakeholders across opposition Political Parties in the State for upholding the equity mantra of the seat of power returning to Ebonyi North at the end of Umahi’s administration.

” We applauded notable stakeholders across the opposition parties including Senator Pius Anyim, Senator Sylvanus Ngiji Ngele, Senator Obinna Ogba, Ambassador Lawrence Nwuruku, Chief Edward Nkwegu.

“Also, Chief Sylvester Ogbaga, Chief Boniface Ofoke, Engr. Peter Ede, Chief Anayo Edwin Nwonu, Chief Livinus Makwe and many others for agreeing to uphold the Divine Mandate zoning arrangements and for throwing their weight behind the Candidature of Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru going into the March 18 polls, in the interest of equity, justice and fairness.”

Chief Orji while congratulating the APC family for the landslide victory recorded at the Presidential and National Assembly elections, thanked the entire Ebonyi people for keeping faith with the party.

He, however advised Ebonyians to come out enmass on Saturday March 18 and exercise their franchise at the polls as all arrangements have been concluded to ensure adequate security across the State.
