The opposition political parties in Ebonyi State have lambasted the State Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC for its delay in announcing the results of Candidates in the State.
The representatives of the opposition parties registered their grievances at INEC Headquarters in Abakaliki.
The Chairman of the Labour Party in the State Hon. Godwin Jioke decried the poor performance of the Commission, for having not announced the results since yesterday evening, and however, described the situation as a calculated attempt by the INEC to rig the elections in favour of APC.
Jioke who frowned at the development alleged that the INEC in collaboration with the APC are of a plan to rig the elections in favour of the APC candidates, and vowed not to accept such results if his party didn’t win as the exercise was marred with irregularities in the State.
Meanwhile, the Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Silas Onu described the delay as a plan to rig the elections.
He alleged that the results were seized at the various Local Government areas in the State by the APC members to make the winning candidates from the opposition parties in the state lose elections.
According to Onu, “APC and INEC chased the PDP agents away from the polling units in the State so that they would not witness the elections. That was what they did at Ebonyi South Senatorial Zone, the results were compromised,” Onu submitted.
Our correspondent who witnessed the event reports that the State Resident Electoral Commission Mrs Onyeka Ugochi Pauline and security chiefs were sitting inside the INEC hall where the results were to be announced but they didn’t do nor say anything.
