The newly posted Commissioner of Police in Ebonyi State, CP Faleye Sunday Olaleye has vowed to ensure peaceful conduct of this year’s general elections in all the nooks and crannies of the State.
He state this while addressing newsmen after he was handed over by the outgoing CP, Aliyu Garba in the Police Officers Mess in Abakaliki, the State Capital.

According to him: “the police belong to everybody. Is it possible for somebody to dominate the national Police, it’s not possible. The police belong to everybody. Let me assure you that the police are for everybody because we are friends, and we need your assistance and cooperation.”

On whether his office would work with the recently disbanded Ebubeagu Security Operatives by the Federal High Court Abakaliki, the CP said “you just informed me, how am I going to work with things that doesn’t exist, court has disbanded them. Speaking on the recent threats coming from some non-state actors announcing elections would not hold in the South East States, the new Ebonyi CP, said, “as a professional officer, our plan is not meant for the public, but that threat is an empty one because people will freely move out to do their businesses, to come out during the elections and exercise their franchise as I earlier said.”
Meanwhile, the outgoing Ebonyi CP Garba Aliyu was of the view that his departure from the state left him with no regrets as he has achieved a lot security wise in the State.
