The presidential candidate New Nigeria People’s Party,(NNPP) Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso Wednesday said that the All Progressives Congress, APC, led administration is now worst than the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
He made the remarks while addressing newsmen in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.
Kwankwaso who was among the pioneer founder of the ruling party described APC led government as a ‘failed’ group of people.
He faulted the choice of the presidential candidate of the party which he said will help opposition to easily take over power.
According to him, “You see for those of us who have been in this game for some time, I believe in the understanding of what politics is all about.
“30 years ago,1992 I was a Deputy Speaker of the House of Reps, then, I was elected delegate national conference 1994/5, and as governor 1999-2003, then serves as a Minister, then in NDDC but left there because of corruption.
“I went back to Kano as a governor, and in 2015, become Senator of the federal republic of Nigeria. I am giving you this history so that you know we have meet people and associated with many association and groups.
When asked his relationship with the governor of the state as opposition party member, he explained that Umahi remain a good leader to associate irrespective of party.
“So, party is important but what’s more important is your good relationship with people.
“We are not happy with PDP, which was why we took collective decision and that was how we formed APC with five governors and produced the president in 2015.
He added, “Unfortunately, while we are not happy with PDP, the APC group are now worst than PDP.
“One big mistake APC did which is giving their ticket to the wrong person.
“They would have giving their ticket to Dave Umahi or Nyesom Wike and many other good person who have performed but we didn’t want them as opposition and that was our prayers.
“We are happy now at the national level because APC has failed the nation and we are ready to take over leadership.
Earlier, the Governor of Ebonyi State , Engr David Umahi called on political parties to carry out campaigns that will be devoid of rancour and acrimony.
The governor who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kelechi Igwe , emphasized that power belongs to God , advising politicians to be guided by that principle.
” My Governor is an APC Governor, myself standing before you here is an APC man, all these commissioners are APC stalwarts and we uphold the principles our Party very dearly, but we owe you one thing, and that’s our prayers. Our prayer is that the will of God should prevail in Nigeria. If God says he has anointed you , nobody can stop you, and if God says is us, please be magnanimous to continue to support us as you have always done “
