The Ebonyi State Governor Engr. David Umahi has called for a proper review of educational system in Nigeria to enhance a quality education in the Country.

He made the call while playing a host to the board of trustees of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund in Abakaliki, the State Capital.

The Governor who identified education, security and health as the major challenges facing the Country, noted the lingering ASUU strike has caused a serious havoc to both the students and the society and called on constituted authorities on the both ASUU and Federal Government to address the striking issue for the good of the Students and the Country at large.

According to the Governor” ASUU are not asking this to take to their homes so to say, they are asking this to better lives of our children, lecturers and infrastructures”

“So it is important for ASUU to show some understanding and also those negotiating on the side of Government to also show some understanding, let’s meet ourselves and open the schools for our children”

The Governor while appreciating the Nigeria police force and State Commissioner for Police CP Aliyu Garuba highly for their giant efforts in tackling security challenges in the Country, assured of his adminstration continued support for Nigeria Police and the board of Nigeria Police Trust Fund for more productivity, adding the State Government is currently undertaking the construction of over ten police stations destroyed during the END SARS protest.

He hinted Ebonyi State is the Safest and the most peaceful State in the South East Region of the Country and however decried high rate of hate speech and fake news in the Social Media which according to him has instigated security threat and conflict in the Country and called for enforcement of social media regulation law to forestall the situation.

The Governor further solicited for the additional mobile Police Stations in some strategic areas in the State to take care of insecurity in such area and advocated for citizenship involvement in tackling the problem of insecurity across in the Country.

He also added” what happened at Abuja correctional service shouldn’t be, my correctional prisons are all wired with CCTV, you will see people two kilometers before they will come. People feel those things day and night and I think that all all the divisional police headquarters should be all wired with CCTV and solar light so that they can see people far before they come”

“It is very important to embark on independent solar street light few meters away from the police stations in the Country and as well use 55KV generator to power CCTV, is very important”

” Each time Police man, woman or any security agent dies in Ebonyi, it gives me a very serious health challenge, people shouldn’t die in the course of protecting us” he said

Meanwhile, the leader of the delegation and the director general of budget office of the Federation and member board of trustees of Nigeria Police Trust Fund Dr. Ben Akabueze extolled Governor Umahi’s support and his cordial relationship with Nigeria Police Force especially in Ebonyi State Command, saying the purpose of their visit was to intimate the Governor of the their mandate and activities of Nigeria Police Trust Fund and to seek for partnership between the State Government and the Nigeria Police Trust Fund in providing the basic needs of the Nigeria Police Force to ensure efficient and effective policy in the State and the Country at large.

He added the mission of the Trust Fund was to provide the critical needs of their auxiliary colleges and institutions to ensure the overall involvement in the discharge of their duties.
