As the Local Government election in Ebonyi State gathers momentum, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Izzi LGA, Barr. Steve Nwamkpa Emenike has picked his expression of interest and nomination forms at the Party Secretariat, Akanu Ibiam International Conference Center, Abakaliki.

Addressing newsmen in his Abakaliki residence during a grand reception ceremony, Nwamkpa expressed satisfaction on the level of solidarity and love bestowed on him by the stakeholders and the entire good people of Izzi Local Government council and commended the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly Hon. Francis Nwifuru and the Governor of Ebonyi State Engr. David Umahi whom through their efforts he was nominated to serve in the council as a chairman.

The incoming chairman however, described Hon. Francis Nwifuru as a great unifier and a political juggernaut, whom according to him, remains the only APC candidate who would consolidate the good works of Engr. David Umahi in the State while calling on Ebonyians to support his candidature.

Nwamkpa, advocated for peaceful coexistence and harmony among citizens of the State, while expressing his readiness to ensure the party APC wins landslide in the forthcoming general elections in the council and the State at large.

Further more, Barr. Nwamkpa enjoined Ebonyi people who are of the voting age to participate actively on the ongoing voters’ card registration and revalidation exercise as it remains their power and a bedrock of choosing a credible leaders who will govern the State.

He appealed to the Independent National Electoral commission (INEC) to deployed more machine to the different registration centers in the State to enable all eligible voters obtain their permanent voters’ card (PVC) and exercise their civil responsibilities.

The Coordinator of Nnodo Development center Hon. Chijioke Nwuzor noted that the importance of Permanent voters card (PVC) can not be overemphasized and advised every eligible voters to go and get registered to enable them exercise their franchise.

According to him “In South East, especially in Ebonyi State we are lacking machine for voter card registration, In Izzi LGA as a whole we have only five machine, this is grossly inadequate, our people are ready to register their PVC but there is no machine to register them. There is enough sensitization, and there is no registration center that you will not see crowd but there is no machine to register them”

“I am appealing to INEC to deploy more machine so that our people can register, INEC should come to our aid now” he added

The former chairman of Izzi Local Government council Hon. Richard Idike urged the incoming chairman to strive for peace and endeavour to carry every body along.

He also admonished him to remain committed to the party APC which gave him the mandate in order to deliver candidates of the party in the forthcoming general elections in the State.

Others who spoke during the event are Hon Anthony Nwegede, member representing Izzi East in Ebonyi state House of Assembly, Dr Zigl Sunday Nwangele, the state Commissioner For Education and Mrs Stella Nneka Ibeogu, incoming Coordinator Igbeagu Development Centre charged the people to continue giving their support to the All Progressives Congress led government as to attract more dividends of democracy in their areas.
