A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr Augustine Nwazunku has declared interest to join the 2023 governorship race.
Nwazunku who was the former Executive Secretary, Ebonyi State Agency for Control of Aids made this declaration at his residential compound, Abakaliki town while interacting with newsmen.
The Guber aspirant said he would not go back from his declaration to contest the governorship position under his party platform in 2023 elections.
He said that producing a consensus candidate remaining a contending issue now in Izhi land, in considering the political permutations in the state.
Nwazunku asked his party faithfuls especially those from Izhi land to allow God to guide them on the issue of having a consensus candidate before the primary and general elections.
“For the Izhi Consensus Governor, it must come, but all of us have a role to play in this race. God will sign the final signature, and the Nigeria politics, South East politics, will continue to work out for better including our state.
“In politics, it’s not over until it will be over. If you go into religion, for God who searcheth and knoweth the heart of men, doeth what pleases Him. So, in my declaration, there’s no going back for governorship position come 2023.”
Nwazunku, the former President, Gulf Club in the State further observed that Bible has given a guide on how to produce a consensus candidate in Izhi land.
“The Christian Bible says, brethren let’s reason together, in Izhi dialect, we say let’s be careful not to forcedly collect food from a domestic dog and throw it to the wilder fox.
“Birth right is a grace from God. In terms of Ebonyi State governorship by 2023, we know it is democracy, and it’s politics, it cannot be seen as the birthright that belongs to Izhi as a people.
“But Igbo dictium says, eme nwata ka emere ibeya, obi adi ya nma and a dying man says my children whatever you see that belongs to all of you, please don’t struggle over it behind me.
“It’s because in the cause of you trying to struggle over it, you will injure one self, but rather discuss over it.
“Currently by 2023, it’s not a birthright for Ndu Izhi to produce the governor of Ebonyi State, but by practice of equity and justice; it is now the right of Ndu Izhi to produce the governor.
“So, the big question now is, can Ndu Izhi produce a consensus candidate? This is a big question. Nigeria is not a one party system and Ebonyi inclusive. If you look here tips from your bigger eyes, fix the third eyes in looking at it.
“If Izhi people should come up and say they will produce Augustine Nwazunku as a consenus candidate, if every Izhi man agrees, but not all Izhi man belongs to the same political party.
“It’s a consensus and the core practice of Izhi people, is by handling their issues to God. Power belongs to God. Izhi people have their own God, the same God and they have the way they do it. When they have not had enough on how to do it, they go into divination, they ask God.
“I have been able to interact with the custodians of Izhi traditions and cultures, the Izhi guardians, who are well educated as spirit.
“They are aware that there is no independent candidature in Nigeria. You need their blessings if your party gives you ticket, but their decision remains that they would support Izhi man for governor.
“How Izhi people will produce their candidate is true consultations of the gods of Izhi land by the elders of the land, and seal with oaths for a consensus after the parties’ primaries, when all the flag bearers are all elected.
“Now the issue is this, no masquruade wears itself. This issue of governance is not a one man show, but the issue is this, tell your people, ask them the send me to represent them.
When asked about Ndu-Izhi readiness for the number one seat in the state,he said”It’s not a pepper soup journey, but the issue saw from day one that dialogue between God and Christ was sent to the Earth today.
“We give this man, Adam and Eve, a blue print on how they are going enjoy the Earth but they reneged. Then, we sent the Prophets to go and remind them of the blue prints, they rather saw some of the Prophets and killed them but God said, I don’t want to abandon these my people. I can’t destroy them, what will we do? They were saying whom will we send again, won’t they sieze and kill the person? Christ said, send me! Wasn’t Christ siezed and killed but he saved them. Christ saved mankind and there’s hope. Now there’s hope, it’s better than the life in the land of Egypt.
“You see the sun is on now and that’s why we have the illumination today, once the sun goes set or in, with its light, there will be darkness. But nobody will see when the darkness is entering, but if NEPA brings light, there will be illumination.
“But nobody will see when darkness leaves, but when NEPA goes off, but nobody see when darkness comes in again, you put on the generator, there will be illumination and nobody sees when darkness leaves again.
“In the mid night, if the fuel finishes, the generator stops, and darkness comes back again, no where to get fuel, you get a stick of candle and light it on. But nobody sees when darkness disappears.
“What does this connotes, it connotes that darkness on its own has no existence. It merely means absence of light.
“One of my admired writers says the so called evils prevail in the society only when the so called good men refused to expressed their goodness.
“But there’s always a battle between light and darkness. When darkness has taken a long time, if you don’t want it to last till dawn, you will now go out to buy a Black market. This time we will look for a place where we will buy black market fuel because of those behind us. Do something the same way, you get the same result, deploy a new formular, you get a new result.
“It’s enough especially now we are talking about Ndu Izhi, produce governor, but I assure by the time an Izhi man guided and ordained by God, finished serving as the governor of Ebonyi State, the whole world will say, Izhi go for governor again for the common good.
“Christ also guides us that food meant for men can’t be served for dog. The process you have started, what does it implies, our people should be empowered with knowledge, information is power, empower our people.
“For the Izhi consensus Governor, it must come, but all of us have a role to play in this race. God will sign the final signature, and Nigeria politics, South East politics, will continue to work out for better including our state.
“In politics, it’s not over until it will be over. If we go into religion, for God who searcheth and knoweth the heart of men, doeth pleases him.
In my declaration, there’s no going back for governorship position come 2023.
