The Ebonyi Stste Immunization officer Dr. Kalu Ogbonnaya has directed the people of the State to massively take advantage on the ongoing covid 19 vaccination as it is safe and non reactive so as to fight the pandemic to the stand still.
He made the assertion during a one day media engagement on the risk associated with covid 19 virus and the way forward at the Ministry of Health Centenary city, Abakaliki, Ebonyi
State Capital.
Dr. Kalu who said that covid 19 is real, urged the people to endeavor to get vaccinated to avoid contracting the virus.
He stressed the need for people of the State to be an advocate instead of endangering the lives of the general public saying it is the best way to prevent the virus.
Kalu further noted that covid 19 vaccines including Astrazeneca, Mordena, Johnson and Johnson are for everyone who is eighteen years and above and advised the general public to avoid sharing false information about covid 19 to reduce risk of creating fear and panic in the people’s mind.
Earlier, Toyeke Adedipe, the risk communication Community consultant encouraged the media practitioners to avail themselves the opportunity and also used their media outfit to champion the course of covid 19 pandemic to get rid of the virus in the Country.
She said the vaccine is available for free at designated health facilities across the State.
The executive secretary of primary health care in Ebonyi State Mrs. Kate Barren called all and sundry to visit the designated vaccination centers and take the vaccine both first and second jab to guarantee the safety of the residence of the State and the Country at large.
The representative of UNICELF Mrs. Uju Eze tasked parents to persistently to give children polio OBR vaccine to curtail its outbreak in the society.
