Ebonyi state All Progressives Congress Caretaker Chairman and chairmanship aspirant Hon Stanley Okoro Emegha has expressed the readiness of the state party congress which is scheduled to hold on 2nd of October, 2021, to be free from violence.
Chief Emegha who made the disclosure to newsmen in Abakaliki on Monday 20th September 2021, while receiving members of National Association of Independent Media Practitioners, who paid him a courtesy visit in Abakaliki, the state capital.
Emegha noted that doors have been thrown open to accommodate everybody who has declared interest of occupying any position in the party.
He stressed his readiness to test his popularity and credibility with other aspirants on the atmosphere of peace and accept whatever comes out of the exercise in the spirit of sportsmanship.
According to him: “Everything about APC is a family thing. We understand ourselves very perfectly well, as such that whosoever that is occupying any position is occupying it for the interest of others.
” Our paramount interest is to develop, to built and to make sure that the party progresses. Before now, you can see the Governor come out to tell you that whatever thing he is doing is by the assistance of Mr. President. It is because he decided not to criticise rather than to be focused in whatever thing he is doing, that is how our party is. We are focused. It is not only me that is going to contest, you can be hearing around that somebody has purchased form or somebody wants to purchase form.
“So, the beauty of democracy is election. We are going to the field by the guidelines of the party, whosoever that wins, others would congratulate him” he submitted.
The Caretaker Chairman who noted that Ebonyi State was rated the most peaceful and transparent in the recently concluded Wards and Local Government Congresses which he said was achieved through the harmonization initiative of Governor Umahi, who ensured equitable representation of all the zones and Local Government Areas of the state in line with the guidelines of the party.
He commended the State Governor, His Excellency, Engr. David Umahi for his relentless efforts to ensure optimum security of lives and properties in the state, irrespective of unnecessary distractions coming from few self centred individuals, whom he said does not mean well for the masses.
He called on all and sundry to keep supporting the governor as his quest for all-round development of the state and its residents as no comparison in the comity of other states in Nigeria.
