The Executive Chairman of Abakaliki Local Government Area, Hon. Emmanuel Nwangele and other prominent stakeholders in the council have commended the state Governor, Engr. David Umahi for his proactive step in ensuring the peaceful conduct of the local government APC congress in the council and the state at large.
They gave the commendation while addressing journalists after the congress at the council headquarters, Nkaliki.
Hon. Nwangele who was deeply overwhelmed over the peaceful outcome of the congress, announced that the council having emerged the most peaceful in the last ward congress did everything humanly possible to sustain the tempo in the Local Government congress.
He observed that the congress was conducted free, fair and credible devoid of rancour and acrimony and enjoined those who contested and loose to join hands together with the winners to reposition the party.
The council boss further thanked all the stakeholders in the local government for their efforts so far and the show of love which made the congress to record a huge success.
He admonished the newly elected executive members of the party to rise to their responsibilities and shun act capable of bridging the existing peace of the party in the council and also called on the people of the council to remain supportive to the policies and programmes of the state Government ably led by Engr. David Umahi to attract more dividends of democracy.
On his part, the commissioner for Lands and Survey, Hon. Emmanuel Uguru, noted that the congress was conducted without rancour and acrimony, and advised the newly executives to rise to their responsibilities in protecting the interest of the party and play politics of inclusive adminstration.
He commended the National working committees,as well as, leaders of the party in the state for their efforts, adding that the peaceful conduct was clear demonstration of the leaders.
However, the general manager of Ebonyi Rice world, Hon. Mathew Uguru hinted that the congress was done according to the guidelines of the party, describing the exercise as one of the most peaceful congress in the council.
He called all the party faithfuls to work according to the provision of the party ideology and admonished new executives to always work together and love one another to strengthen the party in the council.
In their separate contributions, the pioneer chairman of the council, Hon. Mathew Nwobashi, the Coordinator of Ekumenyi Development center, Hon. Ebere Nwogba and his Amachi counterpart, Hon. Obinna Nwiboko expressed joy over the peaceful conduct of the exercise in the area, adding that it was done according to the zoning principle, which they said it is one of the ingredients of democracy as it helps in averting crisis, fighting among others.
They said Abakaliki local government is known for peace and would sustain it for the interest of all and observed that zoning and equitable distribution of power remain the best in politics.
Earlier, the chairman of the electoral committee in the council, Hon. Nkemka Okoro Onuma maintained that out of the four hundred and thirty eight electoral delegates over four hundred and twenty were accredited.
He added that the congress was conducted in a peaceful atmosphere while he charged the newly executives to remain a good ambassadors and vanguard of peace to achieve its set objectives.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected chairman Hon. Paulinus Attam poured an encomiums to the State Governor, Engr. David Umahi, the Executive Chairman of Abakaliki Local Government Hon. Emmanuel Nwangele and all the stakeholders in the council for finding him worthy to serve.
He pledged to run an open door policy and inclusive adminstration to ensure the success of the party in the council, assuring to do all within his reach to justify the confidence reposed on him.
Also, some of the newly executives who barred their minds to our correspondent including the secretary Hon. Ndubuisi Nwangbu, legal adviser Hon. Damian Ukpata, assistant treasurer Hon. Enya Christopher, woman leader, Justina Nwofoke, assistant welfare, John Nweke among others assured to work assiduously to lift the party to the greater height in the council.
