As part of the activities lined up to mark the Catholic Church’s August calendar especially as it concerns women, Hon. Mrs Mary Chinedu Ogah JP, (Osodieme), the wife to the Member Representing Ikwo/Ezza South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, took it upon herself as a duty and obligation to identify with Catholic Women Organization in Ezza South. Due to her continued love for growth and development of the church and in emulating the good works her husband is known for, she sponsored this year’s August meeting convention which took place at Ezza South L.G.A of Ebonyi State.

According to the release made available to us by the Special Assistant to the member representing Ezza North/Ikwo federal constituency on Media, Charles Iteshi, the wife of the lawmaker challenged Christian mothers to live up to the expectation in their various homes.

Addressing the Christian women during the event, Hon. Mrs Ogah gave an expository analysis using the rods used to hold the canopies used during the event to describe exactly what women represent in various homes.

She maintained that women are the foundation and pillars of every family. And for a man to be successful, a woman must sit up, “she said”.

She however, called for peace, love and unity in their various families and communities, affirming that the family is a primary social unit in the society, and as an institution the family is older than that of religion or state.

According to her, it is the sole responsibility of a woman to give the child a good upbringing and assist in their training in the family.

“Behind every successful man is a woman. And if the man is married, then the woman is definitely his wife.

“The role of a wife is so crucial that she can either make or break a family. She gives her husband the strength to succeed, she nurtures her children to stay healthy and do well in their life, and she has the ability to take care of every minute detail at home” Hon. Mrs Ogah stated.

“Marriage transforms the life of a woman; from a pampered carefree girl, she evolves into a responsible wife ready to take on the duties of a wife and this is the epicentre of marriage”.

She asked several questions concerning the roles of women in their respective homes, what is your plan in nurturing the children? Has our generation lost hope in training our children? Kidnapping and crisis everywhere and our children are dying like fowls, you have an account and you are not safe anymore, she said.

She spoke vehemently and advised them to shun domestic violence and do everything within their capacity to give peace a chance. A man who has peace from her wife behaves like a child and it is at this point that he bends to take care of the family no matter the situation.

In appreciation, Hon. Mrs Mary Chinedu Ogah extended her generosity and shared the following items to them, Microwaves, Cooking gas, cooking stove, packets of Maggi to every ward in Ezza South LGA, cartons of Maggi given to individuals, hand fans, spoons, bathing buckets, filters and many others.

She thanked God for the success of this year’s August meeting in Ezza South LGA, prayed for their safe travels to their different locations more especially those in diaspora and wished them well in their respective homes.
