Ebonyi State Commissioner for Health, Dr Daniel Umezurike, Tuesday, confirmed the outbreak of cholera in some communities of Izzi Local Government Area of the state but said the disease is already control.

He made the confirmation on phone call when contacted by ourselves reporter, adding that he was on his way from the affected communities.

However, reliable sources told us that the cholera outbreak affected people of Onweonwiya and those in their neighboring villages in Mgbalukwu Community in Izzi council area of state.

The community people have called for the government intervention to save their lives following the outbreak of the pandemic.

But Umezurike said he visited the community today after being reached with the report on recent development.

The state Health Commissioner said that all the affected persons by the disease have been taken to the General Hospital, Iboko, the Izzi Council headquarters.

When asked about issue related to casualty,he stated that as at now, no record of death associaed with the cholera outbreak in the area.

Dr. Umezurike, however, assured the government intervention in taking care of the affected patients, urging all and sundry to take cover as effort has been put in place to douse the tension already in some communities in the state
