Ebonyi State Government on Wednesday 6th July,2021 completed it’s enlarged peace meeting in all the 13 Local Government Areas of the State through peace movement committee headed by the Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Very Reverend Father Abraham Nwali.

However, stakeholders of Ebonyi Local Government Area commended the state governor, Engr David Umahi for his developmental projects which has benefited the people alot but appealed for the completion of Chief Nwiboko obodo and the devastated Nwogbaga Alo roads which have crippled economic activities of the people of the area.

Addressing the committee at the council headquarters, Ugbodo, the Chairman of Ebonyi Local Government Area,Hon. (Mrs) Chinyere Nwogbaga lauded the efforts of the Committee as they have done a lot to ensure that peace returns to every part of the state.

The Council Chairman described the synergy introduced by the Christian body as a good omen, noting that the council through the establishment of vigilantee group across communities and villages have help to ensure security of lives and property in the area.

The Chairman thanked stakeholders of various communities of the area for involving in the peace mission and charged them to continue giving their support as to further fufil the peace message.

“Following the insecurity in Ebonyi State starting from EndSARS protest and communal clashes, burning of Police Stations and some Government properties in the State, the State Government quickly constituted a peace committee headed by the State Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Very Reverend Father Abraham Nwali which has today concluded their peace campaign here in Ebonyi Local Government and from what we discussed here, am sure that God willing, everywhere will be calm”.

“To ensure adequate security in the State, every communities and villages
must have their town union President, Traditional rulers, and village heads respectively.

“This would help to constitute vigilantes and to easily secure the Communities. She said

She urged the youths to eschew from every harmful activities such as smoking of Indian hemps which can lead them into social vices.

“I am challenging our youth to adopt right attitude to life, It’s not all about empowering you with money; you must learn one trade Which will help you to manage any monetary empowerment that might come your way.

“This is time to help yourself and define what you want in life”. She advised.

Earlier, the Chairman of the committee, Reverend Father Abraham Nwali thanked the people of Ebonyi Local Government Area for welcoming them.

Nwali advised the people of the Local Government Area to remain peaceful which they are known for.

The Catholic priest hinted that some of the council Areas visited opined that parents and Teachers Association, as well as,moral instruction should be reintroduced in school as a way to revamp the educational system in the state.

He said:“if you are peaceful and love one another, there will never be insecurity because you will collectively fight your common enemy.

“His Excellency is worried with our educational system and ready to work with our people to revamp the system and that’s why we are here to listen to you on how best to achieve it.

“Our health care is another big challenge and your opinion is needed to make our primary health centres and hospitals functional.

The former Nigeria Minister of State for Power and Steel, Chief Goddy Ogbaga thanked the peace committee but requested that teachers as agents of moral development should be properly remunerated and supervised for effective result.

According to him: “Teachers have a lot to contribute towards making a society crime free by impacting good virtues on our children and youths.

” Government should give them appropriate remuneration and joint monitoring and supervision should be considered as well.

On his part, the former Chairman of Ebonyi Local Government, Barr. Anselm Enigwe advised that youths should be appropriately captured in national budget.

Barr Enigwe said some of the youth are misbehaving due to frustration ochestrated by joblessness after graduation and added that creating of functional acquisition centre would help curb youth restiveness.

Others who barred their minds including immediate past Head of Service,Mr Chamberlain Nwele, Former Commissioner for Land Architech Mbam Ogodo, thanked the team and pledged continous support to the council Chairman.

Meanwhile, the meeting was attended by all the former council chairmen, serving and former Commissioners, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, Technical Assistants, Town Union presidents, traditional rulers, village Heads, and youth leaders.
