As Ebonyi State wide prayer and fasting enters the third day, Governor David Nweze Umahi wants Christians to intensify prayers for God’s intervention in the precarious security situation in the country.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Dr. Monday Uzor and made available to us on Monday 3rd May,2021 in Abakaliki

Umahi made the call following the ongoing state-wide prayer and fasting at the Akanu Ibiam International Conference Centre Abakaliki officiated by the Divine mandate Pastors.

He noted that the security challenge is not peculiar to the State but observed with dismay that issues concerning Ebonyi have always been orchestrated by enemies of the state who usually take to the social media to create panic and discredit the State Government.

The Governor who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr Kelechi Igwe said the prayer session has once again offered Ebonyi people the opportunity to seek the face of God through prayers, supplications and praises.

According to him:”We came not just to pray to God but to praise him because we believe that Paul and Silas had no other weapon of warfare other than praises,” the Governor said.

While making reference to the Covid 19 pandemic, the Governor noted that his administration has always turned to God in a challenging moment , and expressed happiness that God has always intervened.

The Governor who commended the men of God for their committment to Ebonyi project, attributed his achievements to their prayers and the grace of God.

Engr Umahi assured that he will not be deterred by the enemies, rather will remain focus in improving the wellbeing of the people in- line with the covenant he had with God.

The senior Pastor of Christ Embassy, Abakaliki One and Chaplain of the Government House, Pastor Eunice Oyeyemi emphasised that the 7- Day prayer and Fasting will help to liberate the nation from the shackles of insecurity and other challenges.

She noted that it is also a testament that the present administration in the state believes firmly in the efficacy of prayers.

The prayer is holding simultaneously in the 13 Local Government Areas of the State
