— Threatens Legal Action

By Ikpozu Andrew, Abakaliki

The Member Representing Ikwo/ Ezza-South Federal Constituency, Hon. (Comrade) Chinedu Ogah, OON has called on the National president of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN); Michael Nnachi to stop the illegal deduction of 3% from salaries of Nurses in Nigeria.

Hon Chinedu Ogah

The Honourable Member further added that due to the deductions, some workers are unable to meet up with their needs while some have resorted to seeking for better opportunities outside the country.

Comrade Ogah described action as inhumanity and sheer exploitation considering how many years these people spent in the university.

He maintained that some members of the Association have been lamenting over the illegal 3% deduction from their salaries, but they were threatened with sanction.

According to him:”It is high time the NMCN president refrained from sabotaging the policies and efforts of the Federal Government.

However, the Rep Member used the opportunity to call on Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other crimes agencies to investigate into the matter.

He also enjoined the Accountant General of the Federal to distance himself from such illegitimate business and resist its implementation on IPPIS.

Again, the National president of Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria is mandated or given 72 hours to end the illegal deduction of 3% from worker’s salaries or he will be faced decisively with legal actions.

Comrade Ogah noted with sadness the undue oppression of some members of the Association from Ebonyi State who opposed the decision of the National body and advised those involved to desist from acts capable of ruining their life and reputation.
