Hon Sylvester Ogbaga Member representing Abakaliki/Izzi federal Constituency in Federal House of Assembly Abuja

“Today, I join all of you and all mankind of the Christian faith all over the world to celebrate the resurrection of Christ. I wish you all the very best of the Easter season.

“As Christians and as people who are privileged to be a part of this year’s memorial, we are grateful to God Almighty for not letting us be consumed by the various challenges that continously threaten our faith in Him.

“Even more, this season presents us an opportunity to reflect on the paradoxical truth of humanity which establishes that – it is through giving that we receive; it is in dying that we are truly born; and that victory belongs to the meek and humble, and not the oppressor whose power is only transient and ephemeral.

“Therefore, as we join our christian brothers and sisters all over the world in celebrating this year’s Easter and commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ today, I enjoin everyone of us to focus more on the significance of its lesson of piety and self sacrifice for the good of others.

“It is also my prayer that we truly reflect on the quintessential modus vivendi of our Lord Jesus Christ and immerse ourselves in a platonic emotionalism of agape love for one another in this season and beyond. This alone will propel and guarantee peace in our respective locations because where there is love, there will be peace, and where there is peace, there will be progress.

“Let us equally fulfill the reason and mystery of His resurrection in our daily activities by living in peace, unity and love among ourselves. The bible says “follow peace with all men”. Men in this context does not exclude people of other faith and belief.

“It is our calling as chosen people and holy Nation, to be light unto the paths of others. These among other things, form my prayers on your behalf.

“On this note, I extend my heartfelt commiseration to the families of those who lost their loved relatives or properties in the protracted Enyigba- Enyibichiri Ikwo, Ezza- Effium communal crises and the recent herdsmen at attacks on the people of Egedege in Ishielu Local Government Area.

“My sympathy also goes to those who have suffered untold injuries and hardship from the heinous attacks and I pray for their speedy recovery.

“We also need to be more alert and vigilant, and always give security report when necessary to the security agencies in the state and equally cooperate with them for positive and quick response when there is any security threat.

“I am convinced that we will one day overcome all the challenges bedeviling our peace of mind as children of God in the state and Nigeria in particular.

“May the rising of Jesus Christ mark a new beginning of positive advancement in every areas of our lives.

Happy Easter and God bless you all.
