— As Gov.Umahi , Deputy Publicly Administer Vaccine

Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi and Deputy, Kelechi Igwe on Thursday, March 11,2021 received the anti covid-19 vaccine (AstraZeneca injection)and enjoined the people not to panic but accept the vaccine.

Addressing newsmen shortly after publicly taking the AstraZeneca vaccine at the new government house, Centenary City, Abakaliki.

Governor Umahi said,fourty six thousand and ninety(46,090) dosage of the AstraZeneca vaccine was received from the Federal Government and are ready to be vaccinated.

He said, the essence of Him and the Deputy public administering of the vaccine was to build the confidence in Ebonyi People that the vaccine is free of harm.

He commended the federal government led by president Muhammadu Buhari for his leadership by example and concern for the people, especially the team of the taskforce, covid-19 chaired by the Secretary Federal Government,Boss Mustapha.

He noted that state government has continued to carry fifty persons test with forty-nine negative and one positive and said, the concern ministry would not soft pedal until the pandemic is declared free.

He added that even while the vaccination is not compulsory but the strictly adherence to covid-19 protocols should be maintained until the country is announced free of the scourge.

According to him:”Good news in Ebonyi State is that we carried out about an average of fifty test in the state.

“In the past one week,we have been getting about fifty test and we have 49 negative and one positive, but we’re not going to soft pedal until everybody is free of this pandemic.

“I have publicly taken the vaccine and my deputy has also done the same. This vaccination is not compulsory but what’s compulsory is that you must observe covid-19 protocols and even when you take the vaccine, the protocol demands that you must wear the mask.

“And somebody asks why?, The reason;I have told is that this vaccine will suppress the pandemic if it tries to come into the body but the body could still be a carrier and if the body is a carrier,it could still give those who are not vaccinated the disease and this has called for those who have already vaccinated to maintain the protocols.he emphasized
