As the football competition of Izhi clan continues, the Coordinator of Abakaliki Development Center, Hon. Ekene Edeh has continued to pour an encomium and commendation to the sponsor, the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Rt. Honorable Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his exemplary leadership ingenuity in the clan and the state at large.
The Coordinator made his feelings known while speaking with our correspondent during the football match between Echiaba and Abakaliki Development Centers held at Nkwagu Primary School, Abakaliki Local government area of the state.
Hon. Edeh lauded the philanthropic disposition of the Speaker, since his assumption of office, saying that he has performed creditably well and extolled other stakeholders in the clan for their robust relationship and contributions, which he said, had improved the unity and peace of the clan.
The Coordinator observed that the football competition since it started, has been a uniting force especially the youths while calling on the participants to implore high level of professionalism to ensure the objective in which the match was initiated is attained
He urged them to imbibed the spirit of sportsmanship in their dealings at all times.
He further called on the well meaning citizens of the clan especially stakeholders to persistently show love among sisters and brothers to guarantee more development of the clan and appreciated the state Governor Engr. David Nweze Umahi for his unrelentless effort in the development of the state.
He,also called all and sundry to joined hands together with the governor for the overall peace, unity and development of the state for the benefit of citizenry, expressed optimism that his team would emerged victory at the end of the exercise.
On his part, the National president of Izhi Nnodo youth forum who doubled as the Special Assistant to the state Governor on Security, Ebonyi North zone, Comrade Ben Nwovu described the exercise as a unique one and applauded the speaker, Nwifuru, whom he said had unanimously donated the cup to the youths of Izhi clan to bring unity and restore the dignity of Izhi Men and Women.
The National president hinted that the match is the first of its kind, noting that the entire clan are giving solidarity to the donor, Nwifuru for his kind gesture.
He maintained that for the development of an area, youths need to be fully accommodated and engaged properly, and added that at the end of the exercise the best players would be selected to form a formidable team capable of playing both National and International football tournament.
He charged youths of the clan to shun indulging in any act capable of jeopardizing their futures but engaged in a meaningful ventures to ease means of livelihood.
However, he called on the DC Coordinators to ensure that all players are youths from their areas as any team found hired or strangers would be automatically disqualified.
He urged the match officials to demonstrate oneness and justice in the exercise.
Some of the players who spoke to our reporter including Anthony Arize and Okwudili Okeugbala thanked Nwifuru for sponsoring the match, describing it as democracy in action.
They promised to do all within their powers for the success of the match and as well make the clan proud.
Meanwhile, the match ended with Echiaba DC scoring two goals to defeat Abakaliki DC who scored one.
