Following the lingering communal crisis erupted between Enyigba community of Abakaliki LGA and Enyibichiri community of Ikwo LGA, which has resulted killing of innocent souls and waton destructions of property, Ebonyi state government under the leadership of Engr. David Umahi has set up seven-man committee to make a proper boundary demarcation to restore peace among the two warring Communities.

The state Commissioner for Information and State Orientation Barr. Uchenna Orji announce this to newsmen, after the state Executive Council meeting held at old government house Abakaliki, the state capital.

The committee was to be headed by the Attorney General of the State and Commissioner for Justice Barr. Cletus Ofoke while Commissioner for Internal security, Border Peace and Conflicts Resolution, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha is to serve as Secretary, Chairman of Abakaliki LGA Hon. Emmanuel Nwangele and his Ikwo counterpart Hon. Steve Orogwu are members among others.

The Information Commissioner said, the state government frowned on the crisis between Isinkwo and Abaomege communities in Onitcha LGA, stated executive council members resolved and issued a matching order that any further crisis in the area would amount holding stakeholders from the two communities responsible and commended the stakeholders and the people Ezza and Ezza Effium communities for avowed commitment towards keeping the peace and ceasing of hostilities in the area.

However, commended the effort made by the Christian Association of Nigeria,CAN, Elders Council, founding fathers, as well as, the committee headed by Bishop Monday Nkwegu for their efforts in resolving the problem in that communities.

On the land development, the commissioner stated that Exco has set up committee to be chaired by the commissioner for water Resources Hon. Sunday Inyima and Dr. Peter Mbam Obasi as Secretary, Hon. Collins Agbo and Chike Ogiji as members among others, as part of the state government effort to make affordable housing scheme and compensation where appropriately to those affected by the dualization of Abakaliki/ Enugu express way and dualization of airport junction to Afikpo with charge to evaluate and document all properties affected, tenement rate and other land fees from 2015 to date.

The committee was also charged to review the compensation from the envisage side road on the both sides from Spera- in Deo to Ezzamgbo and access the compensation associated the edge of coal star (12m) from airport junction to Afikpo and from 135 to Nkalagu boundary adding that the committee was mandated to photographed and video those areas and submit its preliminary report not later than 7th March, 2021.

The commissioner noted that the Executive Council members, also considered the progress made by the committee on end SARS youth submit and resolved to further shift the date of the submit to Wednesday 5th March, 2021, to enable the resource persons prepared adequately and make available lecture notes to the participants, adding that Exco also resolved to give a window of two weeks to receive more applications.

He hinted that Executive Council members after receiving the applications submitted by the state head of service and committee on the permanent secretaries which boarders on the promotion of civil servants, further directed the state committee on promotion to review their submissions and make necessary recommendations to the state executive council.

  1. The commissioner maintained the Exco considered and approved the bill for the construction of twin flyovers at Amasiri at the cost of 933m and evaluation was further carried out on the bill for the construction of airport flyover in the state.
